Series Parallel Switch JT50/70/90 :
12 => 24v: To power the Jet Thruster pump unit with 24V in a 12V circuit
or
24v => 48v: To power the Jet Thruster pump unit with 48V in a 24V circuit
Note: Jet Thrusters systems (also all other DC power products such as conventionl Bow Thrusters) always need a deciated battery pack. It's not possible to use existing Service Batteries. Often Service Batteries have a different voltage level (12V) and the Jet Thruster needs 24 or 48v power source.
The Series Parallel Switch is the solution to enable a dedicated Battery pack, with higher voltage where this dedicated pack will be charged with the existing voltage provided by the Alternator.
How does it work?
A Series Parallel Switch is providing a Temporary "Bridge" between two indiviual battery packs. These packs can be 12V Parallel Charged, or 24V series Charged. The switch is elecrically activated, and will make a physical connection between the individual battery packs. The result is a Single Pck, and because it places the packs in Series, the voltage wil double. This makes it possible to individualy charge the packs at 12v (or 24v) and set them from 12v to a temporary 24V circuit (or from 24v to 48v)
It all depends if you charging current (Alternator) is at 12 or 24v. For both situations the Series-Parallel Switch is a robust, and easy to place machanica swtich. The Technology itself is a very long existing pricipal and common used in DC Circuits
